How long have you worked for the City of Santa Cruz?

I’ve worked for the City for a little over 2 years.

What do you do in the Housing Division?

As the Principal Management Analyst, I work on federally funded HUD grants such as CDBG and HOME that fund community programs and affordable housing and I work on fiscally related Housing items.

Why did you choose to work in the Housing Division?

I have been working in Housing and Homelessness since 2009 when I started work on a Rapid Re-Housing Program that I designed and implemented. Finding the work challenging and rewarding, I have continued working on HUD, homelessness and affordable housing for about 12 years. The housing shortage felt in California is a critical issue and I am proud to be part of a team that is working to fund and create housing at all affordability levels.

What are your favorite aspects of your job?

I love that I am always learning new things with ever changing HUD regulations and a regular stream of new projects to work on while also getting to work with a brilliant group of teammates.

What are you looking forward to working on in 2021?

We’ve submitted the 2021-2022 HUD Annual Action Plan which brings about $1 million in funding annually to the City of Santa Cruz.

May is Affordable Housing Month!
