With the artist’s blessing, the Santa Cruz Arts Commission voted at their February 8, 2017 meeting replace the City’s Moonlight Dance mural at Scope Park near the clock tower and commission a new mural.

The artist, Peter Bartczak, attended this meeting and shared a warm letter thanking the City for the opportunity and wishing the next artists all the best - and suggesting we all have a party to celebrate the mural. So that's what we did!

Council members David Terrazas and Cynthia Mathews made some wonderful comments as did Mr Bartczak and several of the people who served as the dancing models for the mural.

Even though there with a bit of sadness, there was also real joy and levity. Watch the full video here!
